Marianne Decoster-Taivalkoski (born in France in 1969), media artist based in Helsinki, is currently lecturer in Media and Sonic Arts at the Centre for music and technology in Sibelius Academy, Helsinki. She has graduated from the Media Lab of the University of Art and Design Helsinki in fall 2003. She is researching on the realisation of new type of sensorial spaces using digital technologies that reacts to viewer/visitorís bodily movements and aim at creating poetic and multisensorial experiences. She is the creator of Aquatic (2004/2007), an interactive water soundscape installation where the soundscape modulates according to visitors' bodily motions. It has been exhibited in Ars Electronica's Campus Exhibition Betalounge, Medialab Helsinki, (Linz 2006) and in LARM sound art festival in Kulturhuset, (Stockholm 2007) and is exhibited permanently in the Museum of Arts and Sciences of San Luis PotosÌ, Mexico (2008- ) and in el Trompo, Tijuana, Mexico (2011- ).The Wisdom of the Mules (interactive sound installation and performances, Forum Box, 11/2008, Helsinki) deals with the performative aspects of such installations, involving improvisation and the multiplicity of the roles of the audience.
